FAQs

Do I have to be home?

Whether or not you’re home during your appointment is up to you. You can leave or feel free to stick around. Whatever you’re most comfortable with is fine. If you do leave, your maid will call or text you before they’re finished. However, we strongly recommend doing a pre-cleaning walkthrough with your maids to make sure expectations are properly set. 

Also, keep in mind to be eligible for our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, clients must complete the post-cleaning walk through inspection. If clients are not able or choose not to perform post-cleaning walk through inspection, the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee will be invalid. Additional services will be charged accordingly. When making your booking, please keep this in mind.

Do you bring your own supplies?

All our maids bring their own supplies. If you have a specialty product of your own that you’d like us to use, we’re more than happy to do so. If you have any special requests, we would be happy to accommodate you if possible.

How should I prepare for the arrival of my maids?

For a Deep Clean, it’s best if you clear clutter, put away clothes and clear surfaces so that we can do what we do best…clean! For a Move In clean, just schedule to have one of our cleaning teams thoroughly clean your new home prior to moving in. If we’re doing a Move Out clean, we ask that all items be removed from your home, including clearing out your cabinets and drawers. We are more than happy to clean around and underneath large appliances, but just ask that you move them for us first. Due to liability reasons, our maids are not able to move large appliances.

What are your hours of operation?

We book appointments between 8:00am – 3:00pm, 7 days a week. For larger homes, we recommend scheduling a morning appointment.

Can I request special tasks or extras?

Sure thing. Simply log into your account, respond to your confirmation email or give us a call and add any comments you’d like to your booking.

Do you bring your own supplies and equipment?

All our maids bring their own supplies. If you have a specialty product of your own that you’d like us to use, we’re more than happy to do so and if you’d prefer we use your equipment that is also not a problem. If you have any special requests, we would be happy to accommodate you if possible.

Do you clean offices or commercial spaces?

At this time, Orchid Maids is dedicated to keeping homes clean & tidy. Unfortunately, we do not service offices or commercial spaces.

Do you offer carpet cleaning?

Unfortunately, not at this time.

Orchid Maids serves Canterbury,Groton, Windham, Griswold, New London, Norwich, Franklin, Colchester, Pawcatuck, Waterford and the surrounding communities.

Is there a time limit for the flat rate service?

Great question! With our flat-rate pricing model, we have a maximum amount of hours that can be worked for each type of job. After that, we charge a rate of $50 / hr. Please give us a ring and speak with one of our customer satisfaction specialists to find out the maximum hours for your job.

We do this to account for jobs that require more intensive work. However, it’s rare that we ever go over and we will let you know before we start if we think we’ll go over the maximum hours allotted for your job.

What does a Move Out cleaning include?

Our Move Out service includes refrigerator cleaning, interior window cleaning, oven cleaning and cleaning inside of the cabinets and drawers. Click Services & Pricing to see a full checklist of what’s included with each service.

What if the service I want isn't listed online?

If there’s something special that you’d like, please let us know and we would be happy to accommodate you if possible.

PRICING AND POLICIES

Can I apply a coupon to an existing appointment?

Absolutely. Simply enter your coupon (gift card) code into the booking form as you are creating your booking. Your final price will automatically change to reflect your coupon balance. You can log into your account at any time and see the balance on any gift cards you have.

Do you have specialty discounts?

Absolutely! First-time bookings will receive a $20 discount. Additionally, military personnel and seniors will receive a $20 discount for services. If you book a recurring cleaning service, you’ll get a 15% discount on monthly cleaning, 25% off your bi-weekly service, and save 30% on weekly cleaning.

Do you offer gift cards?

Absolutely! Go to our Gift Card page, fill out the form and pay online. Give the gift of a clean home in less than 60 seconds!

How can I view my Orchid Maids Gift Cards?

Log into your account and you will see any outstanding gift cards and respective balances. In addition, you can see any referral rewards you have earned for referring a friend.

How do I redeem my discount code or gift card?

Simply enter your discount code or gift card code into the booking form as you are creating your booking. Your final price will automatically change to reflect your coupon balance. At any time you can log into your account and see the balance on any gift cards you have.

How do I refer a friend?

Log into your account to get your referral ID. Share this with friends. If a friend books through your referral ID, your friend automatically gets a $25 discount and you earn a $25 referral reward that can be applied to future services.

How does payment work?

We are proud to offer easy cash-free payment! We take credit card information at the time of booking, to secure your reservation. However, we DO NOT charge your card at this time. The morning of the service, we will put a hold on your card to make sure the funds are there. We will charge your card at the end of the day, AFTER the service has been completed.

Should I tip my maid?

Tipping is optional. If you’d like to leave a tip for a job well done, you can tip your maid directly. You can also seamlessly add an amount of your choosing by logging into your Orchid Maids account or simply give us a call at 860-800-5958 and let us know how much you'd like to add. Maids keep 100% of their tips.

What is your 100% satisfaction guarantee?

We aim for our service to surpass every standard, and if you're in any way dissatisfied, we're going to make it right. To be eligible for our 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, we ask that clients complete the post-cleaning walk through inspection. We want to make sure that you are totally satisfied with our work. Unfortunately, if you’re not able or choose not to perform post-cleaning walk through inspection, the 100% Satisfaction Guarantee will not be valid, and any additional services will be charged accordingly.

What is your cancellation policy?

There is no cancellation fee if you cancel anytime before 5pm the day before your scheduled appointment. Because we reserve a time and maid especially for you, please make any schedule changes before 5 p.m. the day before service. Cancellations made after 5 p.m. the day before service will be charged a cancellation fee of 20% of total service fee.

Why is the discount not working?

Some discounts are for first-time customers only and some are for recurring customers only. In addition, some discounts are only one-time, and will not work for future service. There might be a couple of reasons why a specific discount code no longer works. Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Why the 30-minute window?

We always do our best to show up on time, however, we ask that you please allow us a 30-minute window to account for traffic, parking, and other surprises your maid may encounter along the way.

Will my appointment be rescheduled due to inclement weather?

Yes. If your appointment has to be rescheduled due to weather, we will reschedule a time that is convenient for you and safe for our cleaners to travel at no additional costs.

TRUST & SAFETY

Can I Trust My Maid?

All of our maids are interviewed and pass a nationwide detailed background check. Only about 10% of the people that apply end up working as an Orchid Maid certified cleaner.

Is my billing information kept safe and secure?

We have several levels of security in place. First off, our booking form has its own layer of 256 bit security. This is in addition to the SSL protection throughout our site. Secondly, credit card transactions are processed by Stripe and is layered on their own 256-bit security protocol. In addition, no credit card numbers are stored in our system (only a token that allows us to charge the card). Rest assured we take security very very seriously.

What if something goes wrong during my appointment?

How do I change my address and / or contact information?

Log into your account and update your address and contact info in your upcoming booking. Alternatively, you can give us a call at 860-800-5958 and we will update your address for you.

How do I change my payment information?

Log into your account and update your card on file. Your new card will automatically be noted as your default card.

How do I create an Orchid Maids account?

When you book service, an account is automatically created for you. Simply set up your account, choose your password, and you’re ready to go. Alternatively, you can create and log into your account at this link.

How do I log into my account?

What if I need to make a change to my booking?

Log into your account and make the desired changes to your upcoming booking. Alternatively, you can give us a call at 860-800-5958 and we will update your booking for you.
